Snake Missed Eden Too
Bead Embroidered Brooch, 2008
Snake was also cast out of Eden. Enter a world of Art Deco design and bead embroidery based on the embellishment techniques of pre-war couturier houses to create Snake's eye and falling tears.
This two-day class makes all-thumbs-bead-a-phobics into confident bead-a-holics. No dangling yards of tangled threads, no fumbling over stitches built in mid-air. Finished size 2.5 x 5".
Bead embroidery stitches the beads right into a solid, hooped fabric base, making this a simple and fun way to add bling without fear.
Using only the best of jewelry-quality ingredients, your finished brooch may be ready to wear at the end of the second full day.
Kits include turquoise cabochon, Swarovski crystals, hematite, seed and other beads, French Jett and silk. All findings and fibers required to finish are enclosed.
With the addition of a modifier (not included) the brooch becomes a pendant.
This class was sold out at EGA's Greater Pacific and Rocky Mountain Region Seminars in 2008 and at Sun Region in 2009.
Many participants proudly wore their finished brooches to the closing banquets!
A two day class, even beading novices are able to create lovely personal adornments.
Anne Boleyn and Catherine of Aragon
Anne Boleyn and Catherine of Aragon, one or two day classes, are the same techniques without the fringing. Both were inspired by a 2007 technique class with Ruth Cardin of Marin Golden Theads.
Catherine and Anne feature 24 carat gold-plated beads. Anne has natural fresh water pearls, Catherine has Czech hand-pressed glass leaves. Both have semi-precious center cabochons.
Snake and Anne are also available as full kits and stand-alone patterns.
All three kits come with everything you need to complete the brooch except simple stitching supplies (scissors, light, bees wax) plus fully illustrated instructions, source list and bibliography. Stones and beads may change due to market availability.
Patterns include suggestions for purchasing materials. Please be aware that buying the entire kit may cost less than buying the individual materials.
